How should I prepare for the Casper test?

Start with the official Acuity Insights resources and practice test. Then use short sessions to answer original written and video scenarios, review your reasoning and try one improvement. The four-session routine below gives you a concrete starting point without promising an official score or quartile.

Start with the official resources

First get familiar with the format and technical requirements through Acuity Insights. Its practice test helps you experience the actual test environment. Use CasPro scenarios to reflect on how you communicate and make decisions. A preparation routine cannot guarantee a quartile or admission.

A routine in four sessions

Fit these sessions around your schedule. Space them out, repeat them or focus on one goal. How much preparation you need depends on your experience and comfort with the format.

01

Understand before adding a timer

Read a free scenario and separate facts from assumptions. Answer both questions in your own words. Check that your actions are realistic for the role described.

02

Review one specific response

Compare your reasoning with the commentary. Pick one improvement, such as explaining an action or considering someone you overlooked. Rewrite the part that needs it.

03

Move from writing to speaking

Answer one question aloud in one minute. Listen for a clear decision and a reason the listener can follow. You can record yourself with a local tool.

04

Get familiar with the actual environment

Use the practice test and system check in your Acuity Insights account. Confirm your test type, language and technical requirements before test day.

Ten habits to practice

This path adapts the ten bilingual CasPro lessons into practical goals. You can work on each goal using a scenario from this library.

01

Understand the qualities

Practice showing communication, empathy and fairness through decisions. Naming a quality is less useful than explaining an action that demonstrates it.

02

Organize your reasoning

Identify the problem, choose a reasonable action and explain why. Add a next step that depends on what you learn.

03

Work through ethical tensions

Notice when values such as loyalty, accuracy and privacy conflict. Explain the tradeoff and why your decision is proportionate.

04

Make empathy practical

Ask what support a person needs. Respect their preferences while considering the effect on everyone else.

05

Explain yourself on camera

Speak in your own words. Give a direct answer, a reason and a realistic next step in a short response.

06

Spot common mistakes

Watch for assumed motives, vague promises, public confrontation and a single response applied to every situation.

07

Revise an answer

Choose one improvement at a time. Replace a vague action with a concrete step or explain a decision you left unjustified.

08

Handle a disagreement

Hear the perspectives involved and describe the issue without personal attacks. Work toward a shared, workable expectation.

09

Recognize when to escalate

Match the intervention to the risk, your role and what has already been tried. Immediate safety concerns need prompt help.

10

Respond with incomplete information

Name the missing fact that would change your decision. Use a conditional next step without inventing a long list of explanations.

Look for an observable improvement

Keep your first answer and a revised version. Compare one specific element, such as the connection between your decision and the facts. A longer response is not necessarily clearer. Look for explanations that become more concrete and better suited to the situation.

Review your own reasoning

Use these prompts to find one concrete improvement. This is a reflection tool, not an official scoring rubric.

  • I answered the specific question with an action I could take.
  • I separated known facts from assumptions.
  • I considered the people affected by my decision.
  • I explained why my first step was reasonable.
  • I described what would change my approach.
  • I respected privacy and stayed within my role.

Official Casper format

The standard format currently starts with four video-response scenarios, followed by seven typed-response scenarios. Each has two questions. You have one minute per video answer and three and a half minutes for both typed answers. Formats can differ for some programs. Confirm your own test type with Acuity Insights.
